bematrix and Base3: stronger together in Barcelona

For the past year and a half, bematrix has had a physical warehouse with rental equipment, technical support and its own showroom in Barcelona. It is located next to Base3, which has been a valuable printing partner of bematrix for many years. It was a combination that fit perfectly from the start.

How did this collaboration come about and how do we strengthen each other in it? Find out everything in the triple interview below between Carla Bonini and Juan Pablo Bonolo from Base3 and Marcin Gornik from bematrix

Who is who?

Marcin Gornik, bematrix account manager for the Spanish and Portuguese markets, spoke with Carla Bonini (CEO of Base3) and Juan Pablo Bonolo (Commercial Director of Base3). Base3 is one of the largest printing companies in Spain, with a presence in Barcelona and Madrid, among other locations. They have been making their mark in the world of visual communication, digital printing and large-format sublimation for over 24 years.

Carla is responsible for the strategic side of the business, while Juan Pablo leads the sales team, monitoring the market and researching business niches in order to expand their printing capabilities into new markets. Base3 now has production facilities in Buenos Aires, Barcelona and Madrid, and continues to grow.

How did the collaboration begin?

Carla Bonini: "The collaboration with bematrix began around 2018, when we introduced sublimation and the automatic sewing machine. This brought us into contact with bematrix and gave us the opportunity to become an official bePartner Print."

Marcin Gornik: "Base3 is renowned for the high quality of its prints, which fit perfectly with our system. When we were looking for a place to set up in Spain, Base3 was our first choice. We have been collaborating since 2018, and its location, very close to the Fira de Barcelona — Spain's most important exhibition centre — completes the picture."

Juan Pablo Bonolo:  "We immediately recognised bematrix's sustainable vision. By renting local equipment, customers save on transport costs and, at the same time, we can add our prints to their rental order. It's a win-win situation for everyone."

Marcin Gornik: "In addition, Base3 also gives us the opportunity to organise training courses here for our Spanish-speaking customers. They learn about the bematrix system, the prints available and how to integrate them into their stand. We sometimes refer to this entire rental centre as a 'one-stop shop'. Renting frames, ordering prints, picking up your order, testing the stand... everything can be done in one place."

The vision behind the rental centre

Carla Bonini: "We thought it was an excellent idea to collaborate more closely with a leading company like bematrix in a sector that we believe is booming in Spain. The rest of Europe was already much more advanced in this area, and we believe that Spain has great potential.

Collaborating with a company like bematrix would further accelerate the growth process and strengthen our position. We know customers who are already familiar with or interested in frames and who will therefore also be interested in textiles and the printing services we offer."

Marcin Gornik: As I mentioned earlier, we felt that our customers needed a local service provider close to the Fira that could not only provide a fast printing service, but also offer logistical support during both small and large trade fairs. In addition, their great strength here is that they can communicate perfectly in English, which is an advantage for our international customer network.

A challenging collaboration

Juan Pablo Bonolo: "Every collaboration requires coordination. Two visions, two processes: they have to fit together. Fortunately, we quickly found common ground thanks to our shared interest in sustainability."

Marcin Gornik: "The processes and working methods were challenging at first, but we solved this by establishing a clear system that works for both of us. In the meantime, we have already successfully organised a Local Academy, where customers and partners were able to learn about our system, our printing solutions and both companies. And the next Academy is already coming up – on 1 October in Barbéra again!"

What does the future hold?

What makes this collaboration unique is that it doesn't end today. Together with Base3, bematrix wants to continue expanding the rental and service centre in Spain. The goal: to be even closer to customers, further reduce transport costs and emissions, and at the same time lower the threshold for getting started with bematrix.

Marcin Gornik: "Barcelona is just the beginning. We are looking for opportunities in other Spanish regions so that stand builders and organisers throughout the country can access our sustainable solutions. Local roots, international quality: that is the future of bematrix rental in Spain."

We would like to thank Carla Bonini, Juan Pablo Bonolo and Marcin Gornik for this interesting triple interview. This conversation once again highlights the advantages of strong collaboration. By joining forces, we simplify the logistics process for the customer, double our storage space and, as a result, have more material to build and finish your stand in one place!
